Sign guestbook
Am I really the first person to sign your guestbook in 2010? I'm lucky! Well, hello, Michael, I'm Rick and we're old friends. You seem to be having a good life. That makes me happy. You can find me easily on Facebook or just anywhere. I'm accessible. You're still funny.
I am a second year communication student. I just took your third year Media Industries class and loved it. You're one of the few good communication profs available at the University of Ottawa. You are insightful and current. I look forward to taking other courses that you may teach in the future.
I'm a fan. Keep up the good work sir. It's been 5 yrs since I've been in your class and I'm happy to see that you're still at it. I found your courses refreshing amidst the many others that prepare students for a life of economic servitude. I can tell you that after 1st yr at law school, my memories of undergrad seem much more appealing since all of my courses are essentially job training. Nothing wrong with that but it's nice to have courses that take a completely different perspective from time to time. So, do you have a new book coming out or what?
On another note, I may even see you around this summer. I'm working for a law firm downtown on O'Connor for the summer.
I am writing to say thank you for your book (The empire of the mind) I have read it last year and it has impressed me. Firstly, the book really resonates with my view of the internet as a changing force for the society. The advent of the piracy and illegal downloading can be seen not only as a splash in the criminal activity, but actually the wave of customer resistance and new thinking. People who download media from internet (books, movies, music) have more freedom of choice than customers who stick to conventional media. Secondly, for me, you were the first person to actually give explanation for the whole process of the change brought by internet. Now it is clear for me where the society is moving - free exchange and media based on the talent, not on the will of the handful of people with influence and money.
Regards, Alisher.

great class. sometimes a bit one sided, but then again what in education isn't.
best aspect of the courses is the use of multi media and new digit tech. We live in a wired society, networked by bits and bytes, and using the medium that has captured he attention of the majority of students is brilliant. Only courses I have had in communications that employs new forms of communication.
for those who are unhappy, i think it is because much of what is spoke is too hard to sallow and most are happy to head in the sand. thats fine!
thanks for the course and opening me to study of new media! i am inspired!
