Video’s Impact on TV Viewing Remains Uncertain

There is as yet no clear indication that online viewing has a dramatic effect upon television viewing. A recent survey suggests that 14 percent of Internet users claim that they “watch less live television programming on a TV set”yet 10 percent claim that they have been “watching more TV”.

Why is this so?

“People who are watching online video weekly or more often are heavy media consumers across genres and platforms. That said, there are people who consider even the modest number of respondents saying they’re now watching less TV live on television due to online video an important issue with significant future implications, categorizing it as ‘small but serious.’”— Mark Dolliver,AdWeek

Nonetheless, expect to see greater dependancy on the Internet as a source of TV content among all demographic groups.
